Sharon Dee is an accomplished classical violinist, as well as a
cultural
anthropologist, who combined her knowledge and interests to provide
an eclectic program of learning.
She taught music and worked as a professional performer and luthier
for over 30 years. Sharon specializes in restoration of eighteenth
and nineteenth century products, and is a master varnish maker using
the old master methods of the making and use of oil varnishes.
She was a child prodigy on violin and virtually all orchestra string
instruments, and also plays timpani. She has received many academic
scholarships, as well as a full scholarship to the Excelsior School of
Music in New York, when she was sixteen. She received a decree from
the state of Louisiana for her work done through her "Music Of Quebec,
ethnomusicology program, to preserve the music of the Acadians, the
origin of their Cajun music.
Sharon formed the Twin Cities String Ensemble and the Lilly Baber
Ensemble in the Twin Cities area, and they gave stellar performances
in the Twin Cities area for many years.
In the area of anthropology, she has worked for the University of
Minnesota as a researcher in the area of the study of the collaborative
efforts of stake holders in the management of the resources of the
Great Lakes Region. She also specializes in the study of pre Columbian
history, linguistics, and human migration.
Sharon offers years of experience in all aspects of the string
instrument
business. Because of her experience, and genuine interest in music
education, she is someone trusted by those who do business with her.
