This is my mother's (Carmela) high school orchestra picture. She is
the pretty girl with the cello, just left of center.
She is still a pretty girl, and can still play the cello. Central High
School in Duluth Minnesota. These students are
now in their 80s. |

Here's the close-up of Carmela

This is "Bambi"
|
I have to tell you a little about her and how she got her name. My
daughter lives on a farm in Wisconsin where people think that they can
dump their unwanted pets. She has rescued many and seen many die on the
roads around her farm. Bambi came to her from under her wood stove out
in the back of the house, where she apparently had been living and
trying to keep warm. She was emaciated and came running to my daughter
when offered food. My daughter gave her some shelter in the garage where
she made her comfortable and provided food and water and a warm bed.
Eventually my daughter, Tawny, who we call, "Saint. Tawny of Boyceville",
took her to the vet and found that she was about two to three years old,
had been spade and declawed on the front feet and was basically healthy
although undernourished...and someone still threw her away. My other
daughter decided to take her as her own, and I named her Bambi because
she has spots and came out of the woods.
|
|
The vet seems to think that she survived for up to a year on her own in
spite of having no claws etc. The people around Boyceville had been
talking about a "woman" screaming in the woods, and many had heard it...
when she came in contact with my two "Toms", she ran and screamed very
loudly, for this was her only defense being that she has no claws....the
Boyceville mystery is now solved, for it was our Bambi trying to fend
off predators as she tried to survive in those woods. She is just the
sweetest little fur person you could ever ask for and is happily living
"indoors" with my daughter Kelly. Cats are "indoor" animals!!!!! Please
do not let them outside, more importantly, find a no kill shelter if you
must give up your pet.....farms are not places to dump these feeling
creatures.
